Experience the beautiful and emotionally evocative music of Dvorak, Grieg and Smetana, three of the romantic era's great composers.
Ninety of Queensland's most talented young musicians will delight audiences under the direction of Russian conductor, Sergei V Korschmin, who studied his art at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music.
And for the first time, audiences can experience the magnificent acoustic sounds of a full 90-piece orchestra on the stage of the Redland Performing Arts Centre's new Concert Hall.
The program includes Smetana's famous work, The Moldau from Ma Vlast, which was written in the 1870s to embody the characteristics of the Moldau river that runs through the composer's home town of Prague.
QYO2 will also perform the Symphonic Dances Op. 64 by Norwegian composer, Grieg, who is known as the "Chopin of the North". These dances are an emotional and sensitive musical journey which draw their inspiration from Norwegian folk music.
Smetana and Grieg will be complemented by a beautiful rendition of Dvorak's Symphony No. 8 in G Major, blending warmth, optimisim and drama in what some consider to be the Czech composer's finest symphony.
Queensland Youth Orchestra 2 was established in 1968 and orchestra members range in age from 12 to 23. QYO2 has received high praise for its performances of major orchestral repertoire.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear exceptional classical music in RPAC's fantastic new Concert Hall.
Tickets are $26 for adults and $22 for Seniors and Pensioners.
