 One of the world's premier live theatre experiences Beyond the Darkside a live three hour staged extravaganza recreating the psychedelic visual and acoustic dimensions of an original Pink Floyd concert experience, will be appearing at most major capitals of Australia.
Beyond the Darkside is a $3 million production featuring 10 musicians live on stage, supported by one of the largest laser and digital lighting systems in the southern hemisphere with animated video visuals, giant inflatable pigs and many other Pink Floyd effects - all presented in 5.1 surround sound (50,000 watts). The show goes far beyond the standards of any tribute act. Unrivalled by any other Pink Floyd show in the world Beyond the Darkside utilises a state-of-the-art production bigger than most major touring acts both national and international and is a must see for any Pink Floyd fan.
The Gold Coast presentation of Beyond the Darkside is currently touring Australia and has already stunned and left audiences in awe in both Hobart and Adelaide after returning from 18 months in Europe. This will be largest production ever to be seen here in Australia so far, according to its UK creator, musician (lead and acoustic guitars and lead vocals) Kevin Hunt.
'Beyond the Darkside is the grand-daddy of all Pink Floyd shows. In fact, it's now possibly the largest show of its kind in the world - a modern representation of what a Pink Floyd experience truly is. Pink Floyd used the latest and greatest technology when they toured. So the scale of the stage presentation is extremely important. Our attention to detail in Beyond the Darkside in reproducing the sound from both the live musician side to the sound system with the visuals creates the atmosphere and ambience of an original Pink Floyd show. Every detail is based on original Pink Floyd concepts forming a dynamic and atmospheric backdrop unlike anything seen since the real thing when Pink Floyd played here in Australia 1989', he said.
Since Kevin created the show with Australian lighting designer and director Athol Sargood in 1991, they have played to packed houses across Australia and Europe.
Beyond the Darkside's current production delves into some of Pink Floyd's most iconic and introspective albums, beginning with a full rendition of the album "Wish You Were Here", along with other tracks from the classic modern albums "Momentary Lapse of Reason", "The Division Bell", and a few old favourites from such classic albums as "Meddle" and "Animals". The second part of the show will be a full rendition of the album "Dark Side of the Moon" followed by an encore bracket of 6 of the most popular hit songs from "The Wall".
Named after legendary Georgia blues men Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, Pink Floyd is arguably the greatest mainstream rock phenomenon in the world - a cult phenomenon whose music was the soundtrack to the lives of an entire generation. Pink Floyd has always been a huge innovator in the entertainment industry, using technology that is at the forefront of their industry.
Even now, almost 40 years after this group of middle-class University students orchestrated the British psychedelic pop scene of the sixties, Pink Floyd continues to captivate its audience with its atmospheric, introspective anthems exploring the evocative and timeless themes of loneliness, alienation, madness and death.
